_________________________ This is a copy of an email we received from a soldier today, it sure did bring tears to my eyes. Thank you!Thank you so much for what you do. I have taken the pleasure of sending your website to my freinds and family in hopes that they no someone that might want to donate an instrument. I think that a lot of information gets passed around daily by word of mouth and with all the bull that gets passed around on the internet, so I thought that I would take the opportunity to pass around some good information. I hope that you don't mind. I was just thinking of something and I hope that you like. I think that maybe the lord just wanted to say what you are doing is awesome, and He wants me to let you know. Sittin in a tent in the desert, praying that someone cared
I recieved in the mail today a guitar that someone shared
I didnt know where it came from, or how it got to me
but I played as best I could, for everyone to see
Some of the soldiers were crying, some were singing along
for they knew you were thinking of us, even this far from home
I began to shake as the crowd began to grow
the tempo started fast, and then began to slow
tears rolled down my face, as I saw them all around
so that night when I prayed and on my knees fell to the ground
I thanked our Lord on high, for this simple gift of love
that seemed to come from nowhere but fell straight from above
you have touched so many, and with your open heart you share
Now we can all see that you are an angel and you really really care.
This just came to me, and I hope that you like it. I am so amazed at what you are doing for the military. To see this, is really something to me. I don't even no you guys, but I would love nothing more than to meet you and give both a really big hug. God Bless you,

I have a wonderful story to tell of Julia and Kyle whom are cousins. I'm not really sure how they heard of OHN but they did and because of their love for music and our country came up with a great idea. Julia was to become a Bat Mitzvah and Kyle a Bar Mitzvah on the same day, so they sent out a letter to their families and friends asking them to support OHN with instruments and donations as a way to celebrate this great event.
Each of these young people raised several hundreds of dollars along with many instruments for our deployed heros to enjoy. Bless you!!!

MEMORIAL DAY NOT JUST AN EXTRA DAY OFF !I hope General Hoffman doesn't mind me using his article on my blog, it could not be said better.Commentary by Gen. Donald Hoffman
Commander, Air Force Materiel Command
5/19/2009 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- More than 1.3 million Americans have fought and died on behalf of our country during the past 233 years. Except for Afghanistan and Iraq, those wars and conflicts have receded into the pages of history books. But our country was not built on history books. It was built on the backs of men and women who believed in the fundamental principles of freedom, principles for which they were willing to put their lives on the line.
I was recently TDY in Europe and had the opportunity to visit the American Cemetery at St. Mihiel, France. Buried there are 4,153 Americans who gave their lives defending the freedom of others. It is just one of many cemeteries around the world where we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
On Memorial Day, we owe these people more than a day off of work, a backyard barbecue or a day at the water park. I plan to stop wherever I am and whatever I'm doing on Memorial Day at 3 p.m. for the National Moment of Remembrance. I hope you will too. Take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made and the lives lost in the name of freedom.
Our history is full of stories of ordinary people who displayed extraordinary heroism. No doubt our future holds more amazing stories of heartache and heroism. Some of those stories are playing out now in current conflicts around the world. These are stories that bind us together, as one, under the Stars and Stripes of the United States of America. They're the stories of real people whose loved ones suffered and mourned. Let us never forget to honor them all ____________________________May 8, 2009 I want to say Happy Mothers Day and Thank You to all the wonderful women out there who have sons serving our country, and to you mom's taking care of the children while your husband is serving. Especially to you moms serving away from home and family. God Bless you all!____________________________ April 27, 2009I want to say a big Thank You to HFMS or better known as The Houston Folklore and Music Society. We received a shipment of wonderful instruments that they collected for OHN.It's groups such as these that enables OHN to keep sending instruments to our deployed service men and women. God Bless!____________________________ April 5, 2009We here at Operation Happy Note wants to wish everyone a VERY BLESSED AND HAPPY EASTER!I also want to thank the Memorial High School Orchestra of Houston, TX for their efforts in raising over $2500.00 for OHN. We will be shipping out more instruments next week because of them.THANK YOU !____________________________ March 10, 2009Got this email and really cool picture of a soldier that got his OHN guitar autographed by Kid Rock.Dear Barb and Steve,
I am with the 101st Airborne Division and
recently returned from a tour of Afghanistan. In May of last year you and
your donors were kind enough to provide me with a guitar, harmonica, and
accessories. I would again like to thank you very much for that, as I spent
many hours playing and singing with it. Last November when Kid Rock came to
Kandahar on a USO tour and I was fortunate enough to be able to meet him. I
had visited his website and noticed that he had posted an announcement
encouraging people to support Operation Happy Note, so when I met him I
brought along the guitar and told him how I had gotten it via OHN. He was
more than happy to sign it and even added a personal note...if you look
closely at the attached pic, you'll see it says "Happy Note Kicks Ass"! I
told him i would send a copy of the pic to you all and he encouraged me to
ask you to forward it to his website. Please feel free to do so, my only
request is that you only use my first name (Mark) when doing so. Thanks.
Again, thank you for all you do and have done in support ofthe troops and
our mission. You are truly great Americans and we are indebted to you.
Sincerely,
Mark

I would like to thank-you from the bottom of my heart for the guitar that my son received on Christmas day. I have learned that my grandson has sent an email requesting one for his dad and hadn't told no one because he din't want to get his dads hopes up. You truly blessed my family this holiday season. My family has all stayed in touch this Christmas by way of emails and sharing of pics. The emails I received this morning in my inbox telling me about the guitar and how he got it melted my heart so that I had to contact you personnaly and thank-you for your genorosity. I know my son and if he could he would send a pic but where he is at cameras are not allowed. For a family that has been seperated most every holiday season you brought more joy than words could ever begin to describe. Gods helping hands and yours has made this one of the best Christmas ever for a family that couldn't be together. Thank-you ___________________________________ Deceember 21,2008Operation Happy Note, Steve and myself want to wish you all a BLESSED AND MERRY CHRISTMAS! God has blessed us this past year with so many new friends through OHN. One of whom is Allison Balson. Allison has stepped up for OHN once again. She has dedicated the song "STAND" from the Allison & Stone CD "first" to OHN as there theme song. The plan is to include it with the instruments going oversea's as well as a promotional incentive. Captain D's (a seafood restaurant) has also come on board in supporting this effort.___________________________________ December 5, 2008We are well on our way to Christmas, and if your like me no idea what to get that hard to buy person."Well" I have the answer for you. I'm one of those old fashioned people that think everything has to be spotless and in place. Then I received an email from Amy Nelson who reminded me again what it's all about. I have so much to be thankful for. For one thing I am so fortunate to have my son home safe and sound, so to those of you who have loved ones far away I THANK YOU AND THEM FOR THEIR SERVICE TO US.Also check out this link send by Amy, I thank her and all of you who help us keep OHN going.http://fingerprint.typepad.com/jade_gurss_blog/2008/11/guest-blog-a-musical-christmas-charity-suggestion-from-amy-nelson.html#comments ___________________________________ November 20, 2008First I want to thank Allison for her support. I am working at trying to find some foundations that will qualify us for grants, but this does take time and this is a new venture for me.We have hundreds of instruments on hand but no funding for postage at this time.So I'm asking for your help once more. CHRISTMAS is coming!!! So lets get these instruments to our gals and guys who are serving our country.Thank you for your help!_____________________________________ Sept 23,2008Award Nominated Actress/ Published Singer/Songwriter; Allison Balson; best recognized for her portrayal of the adopted “nasty” Nancy Oleson on the television series Little House on the Prairie, began her artistic career when she was five, has come on board as a spokesperson for Operation Happy Note.Allison Balson is thrilled to support the mission of “Operation Happy Note” because Allison believes “Musical instruments are an important part of my life and the lives of so many. An instrument is a tool for emotional release and expression. A song and strums of a guitar can unite hearts and heal minds. It is my hope in donating 15% of each Allison and Stone “first” CD sale to “Operation Happy Note”, that their goal of providing musical instruments to our men and women in uniform continues to be possible and achieved well in to the future.” Please check out her Bio and links under supporters page.Thank you Allison!
