I would like to personally thank you and Operation Happy Note. What a pleasnat surprise to get a guitar with all the fixings and an amplifier. I truly am honored and humbled tro receive such an awesome gift. With that said, I understand the efforts you and your organization are putting forth and would offer to ship my guitar to someone in Afghanistan or even here in another location in Iraq as I had mentioned it would be ok to bless someone else with a guitar as we were a few months from coming home. I have been blessed to be able just to lead worship here on JBB for the duration of my deployment and also to work with some talented individuals and develope friendships, relationships, and planted some seeds for the Lord to work and move in them. I am amazed at how awesome God is and just how small we are. Please let me know if you wish for me to "pay this forward" when I am finished here and again thank you so much for your generosity and thoughtfulness.
Be Blessed,
Sittin in a tent in the desert, praying that someone cared
I recieved in the mail today a guitar that someone shared
I didnt know where it came from, or how it got to me
but I played as best I could, for everyone to see
Some of the soldiers were crying, some were singing along
for they knew you were thinking of us, even this far from home
I began to shake as the crowd began to grow
the tempo started fast, and then began to slow
tears rolled down my face, as I saw them all around
so that night when I prayed and on my knees fell to the ground
I thanked our Lord on high, for this simple gift of love
that seemed to come from nowhere but fell straight from above
you have touched so many, and with your open heart you share
Now we can all see that you are an angel and you really really care.
This just came to me, and I hope that you like it. I am so amazed at what you are doing for the military. To see this, is really something to me. I don't even no you guys, but I would love nothing more than to meet you and give both a really big hug. God Bless you,

First Sergeant, words cannot express how grateful I am for that guitar. Thank you so much. SFC Lalonde presented it on a good day. It was my birthday when I received it. I'm not sure when this email will show up as sent to you but it was December 15th. I hope that you have a speedy recovery Top. I'm sure you'll be back to running 8 miles a day in no time. Again Top, thank you so very much for submitting my name. I really am grateful and wish that I could thank you in person. As you asked for, I got a couple pictures taken. Thank you again.
SPC Victory
Thank you SO MUCH!!
I cannot begin to express how overwhelming my emotions are knowing that my soldiers will have the opportunity to play a little during their down time. This is more than I could have hoped for, and I know how much they will appreciate being able to enjoy the instruments. You people are absolutely wonderful, and I think what you are doing for our servicemen and women is far and above anyone’s expectations. Most of us are just happy to get a letter or small care package, but this will go a long way for the morale and raising the spirits of my soldiers. Near the holiday season, especially, a lot of the younger soldiers are spending their first holiday away from their families, so every little bit helps. Thanksgiving was difficult, so I anticipate Christmas will be even more so. These instruments will certainly help fill some of their down time, and make their time here that much more enjoyable. I can assure you they will be utilized, and just as sure that I’ll be in there tinkering a bit when I get the time.
If there is ever anything I can do to help you or your organization, please let me know. It is certainly a worthwhile cause, and I know all too well how important music is to people. Shortly before we deployed, I lost my guitars in a fire. Most of them can be replaced in time, but I know I’ll never be able to replace one of them. Talking with my soldiers, I know of several who love to play and simply were not able to bring their instruments with them. The loss they feel, almost as if missing a best friend, is something I can most certainly relate to. I know the opportunity you have created for them will help fill that void, and I’m glad that I could be a part of making that happen for them.
Thank you again – I’m not sure you fully fathom the impact things like this has on the soldiers. Sometimes it makes all the difference in the world, just being able to pick up and instrument and play for a little while. You’ve created an opportunity for my soldiers that they normally wouldn’t have had, and the impact is tremendous.
Do take care, and I wish all of you the happiest of holidays and a very Merry Christmas! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you! God bless you all!

WOW!!
Thank you so much and God bless you! I can hardly believe it!
Our chapel group is going to be so happy! And we can now have a complete bluegrass band because of you!
Thousands of thanks and God bless you!

everything you guys are doing!

I just wanted to let you know that I received the guitar today. WOW! It is too awesome. We actually have a musical instrument to play during chapel services now.
Thank you for all you have done. You bless us by sending this gift. There are so many groups back home still protesting the war and calling us-the soldier, the enemy. I was asked the other day if I thought the rest of America feels that same way. I told the soldier, NO! The reason you don't hear that much on the news about the groups that support us is because these groups are too busy writing us letters, sending us care packages, and just loving us from a distance. Operation Happy Note is totally a blessing and an encouragement. We will be coming home soon to many smiling faces and appreciative hearts. Thank you for being one of them.
Here is my picture with the guitar. By the way, the chapel you see in the background is a room Sadaam Insane used to hold, torcher, and murder his own people. Today it is being used as a place of praise to Jesus Christ for His love and protection as well as His power to restore faith.
Thank you so much from a Battled Deployed Chaplain
My mom bought me my first electric guitar in 93’ for my 16th birthday. My pride and joy a sea foam green reissue fender strat. I had that guitar till 03 when I deployed to Iraq. When I came home from that deployment I found out like so many unfortunate soldiers coming back from deployment that my wife had not been so wifely. One of these unwifely things was she pawned my pride n joy. You can imagine how devastated I was. Well 6 years later, divorced, working on my third deployment I still haven’t gotten over losing that beautiful guitar…… Until today!!!
I wasn’t expecting any mail so I was quite surprised to find out I received a package from Operation Happy Note. Not having requested a guitar from you I had to make sure the package was really for me. Still surprised I opened the package and found a fender guitar soft case. Not getting my hopes up I told myself just because the case says fender doesn’t mean the guitar inside is a fender. Well I was totally floored when I opened the guitar case. I found a sea foam green 93 fender strat. For a split second I thought it was the same guitar that was pawned 6 years ago. I still can’t belive it. Thank you so much for everything you do for the troops and thank you for replaceing a hole In my heart. You Guys Are Dream Makers.
God Bless

Dear Barb and Steve, I can hardly believe my eyes as I read this ....I am screaming with joy through my tears..Oh my goodness. A thousand thank you's from the bottom of my heart. You must know how this is going to touch his life. For so long I have only imagined it a dream to replace that instrument for him. I never dreamed that you would become the channel to making it real. I am absolutely estatic. I will never forget this beautiful deed..I pray God blesses you in a million ways. This will be the most remarkable way Jeremiah could ever receive such a gift. I cannot wait to watch him walk through that door with his guitar on his back when he returns home from war. I can't stop these tears..I am deeply touched. I am certain he will be lining the boys up for lessons...He will get them hooked, and then he'll say '"get your own" Your letter happened it's way into my 'spam' mailbox. I always dump and delete that stuff without even looking at it. I don't know what moved me to open it today before I got rid of it. It has to be divine intervention..there is no other explanation. Imagine how I feel now?! I am sobbing with tears ... You are incredible people. God Bless You Both and equal love and appreciation to the gentleman who passed that baby blue strat along to you. I am going now, I have to call my family and introduce you to them! Take good care of each other...Jewl Krumm a soldier's mother I will be sure to let you know how the journey goes...amp..strings..accessories..Wow, he is gonna be so surprised! |
I GOT IT!!!! Thank you so much! What a beautiful guitar. I love it! I
have already been playing it and learning more chords. I have several
other soldiers who play guitar as well and they have shared the guitar
with me for services and just regular "jam sessions".
You were so kind to also send a harmonica. I play that when I am alone
and need something to unwind and I love the sound of the harmonica.
You were so generous to send these items to me and words escape me to
show how grateful I am. Please know that you have brightened many
soldiers day - especially mine!
I am sending you a pic of me with the guitar.
Chaplain Mike Smith
Your program is a wonderful idea. It's such a blessing to know there are still Americans carring about the troops back home.
I just received your gift and it was more than I was expecting. I sent a letter via your website but I didn't see where I could download a picture. I hope it will be ok to sent the picture on this email.
The guitar will be used to help the praise and worship team here in Camp Buehring, Kuwait. It's the aclimation site for the soldiers going into Iraq. All the Soldiers that come to the services, there are a lot, will hear your guitar and be blessed by it. I will pass it on to the next rotaton of worship leaders when I leave.
May God Bless You and Thank You Again,

Hello Barb and Steve
I just wanted to email you to say thanks a ton. Today is my birthday and i received a guitar from you guys on it. It brightened up my day. You guys are doing a great thing and we servicemembers appreciate it. Once again thanks

I received an amp and an electric guitar. I have to say, I certainly
was not expecting a Washburn! We've started a class for the Coalition
folks here at Camp Slayer and we're getting loads of people showing up.
I'm having trouble getting pictures from my camera to my govt machine,
but I'm working it. As soon as I get them loaded, I'll send them your
way. A music store was kind enough to send a Korg tuner and extra
strings as well. I can't tell you how much of a morale boost it is to
just sit down at night and jam. We really appreciate you guys looking
out for the troops. If you have any more guitars/amps that you can
send, I guarantee they will be put to good use. The Washburn was broken
in this last week and was very well received. We sound like a band
almost. I'm trying to get a bass and a set of drums as well as a
keyboard to have a full band. There's a lot of talent here but not many
instruments since we can't really bring them with when we deploy. We
bum from the Chapel whenever we put on a show and I'll try to get video
for the next one which I'll send you guys on CD. Do you have an address
that we could send to? I'm getting a flag flown for you guys and a
poster of the palace we use as a headquarters for the gang to sign and
send to you. Do you guys want anything from here? Thank you again for
supporting us. It is definitely a difference maker.
Thankfully,
MSgt Jef

Thank you so much for your donation you really don't know what it means to me to have a Bass back in my hands although i don't play very well for now :) I'm pretty sure with the extra time I have I will learn plenty if you have any suggested web sites that I could use to learn or get tabs from please let me know once again THANK YOU!! p.s your picture will be sent asap
Hi my name is Aaron and I received a guitar from you guys in 2008 and I love it. A friend of mine Steve Haley really has been aching to get a guitar and start learning, I do what I can to let him play on mine as the group of us learn but it has gotten to the point where he needs his own in order to learn more and move on. I have never seen someone so eager to sit down and play as he is. I would really appreciate it if you would give him one.
His Thank you again for the gift of music in my life over here, just so you known I have been working on learning some songs to sing to my wife when I get back on our honeymoon. I can't wait.
Sincerely
Aaron
I just received a fife from your company. It was completely unexpected, and a fantastic surprise. With all the negative media coverage we've seen over the years, we really enjoy seeing people like you going out and going above and beyond simply supporting the troops.
Thank you.
Matt
Barb,
Just a note to say Thank You very much for sending me a Banjo. I was so happy that I got it. I had to try it out that night. My chaplain is going to show me how to play it. I am looking forward to playing it. My guys may hate me after a while, they will get over it. I like my guys alot. Some will be emailing the organization about asking for something. But again, Thank you for supporting us over here. People like you help us get through it.
I would like to thank-you from the bottom of my heart for the guitar that my son received on Christmas day. I have learned that my grandson has sent an email requesting one for his dad and hadn't told no one because he din't want to get his dads hopes up. You truly blessed my family this holiday season. My family has all stayed in touch this Christmas by way of emails and sharing of pics. The emails I received this morning in my inbox telling me about the guitar and how he got it melted my heart so that I had to contact you personnaly and thank-you for your genorosity. I know my son and if he could he would send a pic but where he is at cameras are not allowed. For a family that has been seperated most every holiday season you brought more joy than words could ever begin to describe. Gods helping hands and yours has made this one of the best Christmas ever for a family that couldn't be together. Thank-you so much!
I received the instruments today, Christmas Eve. What a great Christmas present, especially since we had a bad day due to enemy fire. Please say a prayer for a family that lost a son today.
Thanks again for your generosity. I am distributing the instruments to my soldiers. Thanks for sending so many! I received 1 electric guitar (with amp), 2 acoustic guitars, a mandolin, flute, 2 boxes of harmonicas (which are a really big hit), a cigar box guitar, kazoos, and a large selection of CD's and sheet music. There might have been more but I can't remember off the top of my head. I will send the guitars to my platoon border outposts. They will greatly appreciate it. I will get you pictures when I get a chance.
Again, thanks for all you are doing. It really makes a difference to soldiers in harm's way, far from home during the holidays.
Thanks again and God bless!

My son Levi Kemp has Happily received the guitar you sent to him.
He was very surprised when he returned early from his mission.
He said the whole squad was excited. He will be sharing this guitar with the

Thank You so much for your generosity.
Bless You for what you do.
Have a Very Merry Christmas.

I have been surfing your website and find it completely OUSTANDING!!! I think it is a tremendous service to our troops and a very productive way of relieving stess. It also keeps the mind busy and can sooth the soul. Thank you very much.
From the 1163, God bless you.
I received the two guitars and the accessories. Our soldiers are very enthused and happy. They are absolutely great. Do you have any more email addresses of benefactors who I should thank for this very generous donation.

Operation Happy Note:
Thank you so much for the acoustic guitar that you sent to our son, Matthew, who is stationed in Bagram, Afghanistan. Matt loves music and I knew he would go crazy going without playing an instrument for a year. I had no idea how to get a guitar from here to there in one piece. Fortunately, I found "Operation Happy Note." Matt received the guitar this past weekend and was thrilled with it. He said the guitar is very nice. Matt said his fingers are sore (from getting back into it), and he's probably driving his bunkmates crazy. He used to play for hours and hours at home. I'm sure it helps so much to take his mind off things. Hopefully, he can also use it to minister to other troops and locals there. We are very grateful for the service that you provide to our troops and we will be sending you a contribution this week. Thank you again for your commitment to our troops around the world and the comfort and joy you bring to them through music.

I have received the accoustic guitar and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. It gives me something else to concentrate on and takes away my stress when I'm not at work. I will email you a picture later.
Once again, May God bless you both.

I got the cigar box guitar a few days after the amp. It is so cool! You thought of everything too. When i was opening it I was wondering how i would tune it. You thought of that too. Thank you so much. I cherish it always.

Today I was told that I had mail, so I went to the orderly shack to pick it up, and there they were; two packages. Thank you so very much for the violin and the guitar! They are both beautiful instruments, and are already getting a significant amount of use! My Master Sergeant has especially enjoyed playing the guitar, as have I, and you nailed it with the CD you sent that will help folks learn some simple songs. The MSG told me that "the song" for he and his wife is Brown Eyed Girl, which is on the CD. Now he has the fun goal of learning how to play the song before he leaves so he can sing it to her when he gets back. He's a grizzly old guy, but his eyes get moist when he speaks of his wife, so I have no doubt it will be a very special thing for them.
You have truly given us something to be happy about every day...something that is very much needed here.
Have a nice morning, and enjoy the Minnesota fall that will be arriving there soon. Be sure to take a drive up the North Shore...the leaves are beautiful north of Duluth, and they are just dying to be seen (you'll have to pardon the pun)! :)

Just wanted to send a quick email to say thanks so much for sending us
the guitar and the parts for the sax. The mouthpiece is perfect and now
the instrument can be played and enjoyed by those here at Camp Bucca. It
has been a real blessing. I will be leaving the guitar here for others
to enjoy playing. I have had to load my guitar on the shipping
containers to send home so I will be able to continue playing until I
get to go home. I hope to be able to get some pictures and send them to
you all soon. I hope you and those who support Operation Happy Note will
be blessed and be able to continue the great support of our service
personnel. Again, thanks so much and God Bless.

I can't thank you enough. My guys and I just received your packages
after a few weeks out on constant missions. It was like Christmas in
August. A few of my guys are already lined up to learn how to play
guitar and bass. We all truly appreciate what your organization and
all those who donated the intruments have done for us. I will be sure
to send pictures when I get a chance. Thanks again,

Ma’am,
I would just like to express my gratitude for support. I received a guitar and Amp, it was one of the highlights of my tour here. I can’t begin to tell you how much it has lifter my moral and the moral of more than a few troops that I let use it. I think they get more time with it than I do which is great. I am rapidly learning to play it due to the fact that they all want to play it so I make them teach me as a trade off. I greatly appreciate it, I will continue to treasure it. Upon return to my duty station I plan on making a contribution so that others can get the same support I truly applaud your efforts to support our troops keep up the great work.

Dear Operation Happy Note,
Thank you ever so much for your wonderful donation of two Lyon Acoustic guitars which I received about 2 months ago, after only about a 2-week wait! They have been invaluable for lessons and teaching. I tell everyone I talk guitars to about your organization.
So far, I have used them to teach basic guitar to about a two dozen folks (a few each Friday and Sunday), primarily Marines and Ugandans, over here in
I am leaving soon for
Thank you again for your organization’s support of the folks over here. Special thanks from me for enabling me to pass on my love of the instrument and ability to play to others through your charitable donation.

I was astounded by how quickly I received my guitar. I was expecting a considerable wait, and that would be okay, (first come first serve, you know) but I received your package about one week after our last e-mail correspondence. It is marvelous. I have been stuck between missions and bad internet connection since it came in, so I am taking this opportunity to type out a very heartfelt "Thank You So Much!" As I said before, the generosity your organization is based on helps shore up my faith in humanity. The guitar will be passed on when it is my time to go home, so it can bring sanity to the next guitar picker that rolls through this part of the world. I am writing a new song for my daughters 4th birthday. She wants to be a Ballerina-Princess-Rock Star when she grows up. My 9 year old is a young pianist with a good ear and nimble fingers. He wants to write like Elton John, but he'll tell you that his favorite stuff was the early stuff when he was writing with Bernie Taupin. I have stryed off point here, but the purpose of this was to say Thank you, thank you, a thousand times. I hope to repay this kindness when I get back to the States.
For all you continue to do for us,
Thank you
Thanks so much for the guitar and harmonica you all sent me. I went home on mid-tour leave and when I returned this big box was waiting for me, I was awestruck to say the least! I truly appreciate what you all are doing to support us and give us a little piece of home and music while we are here. It truly amazes me that there are so many people who truly care enough to go out of their way(and pocketbook) to give us such great gifts. My gradtitude to all of you out there who are making this possible! I can't wait to finish my shift, another jam session tonight!! Thanks so much.

Hello Mrs. Barb and Mr. Steve,
Just a note to let you know yesterday 17 may 2008 they called me to the post office to pick up my package. I got there low and be hold to my surprise they handed me a small box. I started rambling on saying they sent me a violin they sent me a violin. I started to leave and half way around the corner they called me back and said I had another package. I thought it was a package from my family until.... They went to hand me the BIG ONE. It was a guitar. You guys are awesome. Come to find out we have people here that know how to play both instruments, so they are teaching us how to play them. Oh I almost forgot the harmonicas are cool, one young man stayed up all night online teaching his self to play them, He sounds pretty good, (hahaha). You may be surprised to know we have a few people here who have never seen a Kazoo. Can you believe that, I had to tell them what it was and how to play them, Finally an instrument that I can play, for now. The CD"s were very helpful, we thank you very much. And we will be sending you something in the mail from us here at the CLB-6 Shock Trauma Platoon, Iraq
Again Thank you very much
Hello there Barb,
I just got the guitar today and I wanted to say thank you very very much! It was such a great way to start off my day. I'm so grateful that there are people out there that are willing to support the troops this much. You have gone above and beyond in your support and I wanted to send you a very huge hug from all the sodiers here and a great big thank you!!! The tuner, strings, picks, and strap and learn cd's were a great hit and have already been used by many soldiers out here, new and advanced guitar players are using it all!!!
Mr. Steve and Mrs. Barb,
Thank you so much for all you both do for us. You guys are a God send to the moral of Troops all across the globe. I received my guitar last month and my Soldier received his today. I asked for one with a "cool paint job" and you said I would have to paint it myself. I am sure you must have picked mine because it has a sweet purple/green/blue "paintjob". My soldier and I are going to take pictures and send to you and Mr. Steve. Thank you again for all you do. May God Bless you both and all your helpers for helping to make life a little easier over here. We love you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Dear Operation Happy Note,
Thank you so much for your wonderful donation of two Lyon Acoustic guitars, which I received about two months ago. They have been invaluable for lessons and teaching. I tell everyone about your organization.
So far, I have used them to teach basic guitar to about two dozen folks (a few each Friday and Sunday), primarily Marines and Ugandans, over here in Iraq at Al Asad Air Base. I am sending pictures along with this e-mail, though I haven't been able to take pictures of each session which is unfortunate. Still, I was not able to teach anyone before the guitars arrived and with them, I have regulars. Two of my most promising students are from Uganda and provide security around the base. I make special sessions to teach them 12-bar blues on Sundays since they can't come in on the Friday session.
Thank you again for your organization's support of the folks here. Special thanks from me for enabling me to pass on my love of the instrument and ability to play to others through your donation.
Barb and Steve,
I have just received my flute and I love it! It has absolutely turned my deployment around for the best. It is such an honor to receive such a nice gift from a great organization like yours.
Every time I play my flute I will remember you. You have made a world of difference for me. Thank you with all my heart, mind and soul. God Bless you.
my guitar is beautiful... it was worth the wait... thank-you. from fob warhorse
sincerely.

I just wanted to let you know that I received the bass guitar just yesterday and am very grateful. Thank you for all of your help and service to those of us that are deployed. I will send a picture of myself with the guitar as I saw several others on the website do the same. Thank you again for all of your help to us soldiers(and paratroopers)

Thank you so much for sending Mike a guitar. He was so happy. The guitar surpassed our expectations. Mike came home from Iraq last weekend. He will not return for about a year. He left the guitar behind for other soldiers to enjoy. He felt they needed it more than he did, but he was so pleased to have it while he had it.
Mike says that all the soldiers who get your instruments really appreciate them and use them for stress relief. He wanted me to tell you what a great service you provide.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.
Mike and his Mom
I received a mandolin in the mail yesterday. I took it out of the box right away and tuned it up. and it sounds great. Thank you very much for the mandolin, but , more importantly, thank you for what you're doing for all of us over here. It sure brightens a lot of days.
Martin
ps- The kazoos that were included were a big hit. One of my NCO's evidently had a very deprived childhood and had no idea what it was. She caught on quickly and proceeded to annoy people the rest of the afternoon. Thanks anyway!
Barb and Steve
I received a note today telling me that I have a package arriving on our Admin Flight that I'd probably be interested in. You see, I'm at one of those outposts in the middle of nowhere manning a small MEDEVAC helicopter detachment in the Iraq desert and mail call doesn't exactly come every day.
The shape of the box gave it away immediately. I peeled the box away to reveal a beautiful all black acoustic guitar and immediately set forth with annoying everybody within earshot with my hacking at the strings. It turns out that one of the guys here with me took some lessons a few years back and pointed me in the right direction and now I'm now a sore fingered aspiring artist.
Thank you very much for this super gift. It's brought life to an otherwise depressing place and I can't tell you how grateful I am. I, and many others, appreciate the work that you and your organization provide to us deployed service members and are continually amazed at the level of generosity provided by Americans everywhere like yourselves. Thank you again for this wonderful gift and God Bless.
Thank you so much for the awesome accordian. It is in great condition. It sounds awesome and only needed a new shoulder strap which was provided by a guy you sent a Banjo to. We just modified a strap he bought in a beginners kit. It always brings a smile when I play it at our "campfire" as you can see in the picture. After some searching on line I found what it was tuned to and was able to play all the songs I learned in my piano lessons as a kid. I always was good at learning by ear. Thanks again for your generosity. Your charity is well known here, and everyone is grateful for what you do. Thanks again, and God Bless

Thank you for responding. For this to be two (person) operation, I think you are doing a outstanding job. I have dedicated myself to the military for the past 24.5 years so my being here in the desert was already in the plan so: therefore, there is no need to thank me. It is my obligation and my duty to serve you and the people of the United States. If I never receive an instrument I will be okay with that, I understand. I'm just appreciative that there are people like yourselves with such big hearts aiding our servicemembers in so many different and special ways. Again thank you and GOD BLESS !
I keep re-starting my comment but words do not come to me that express's my gratitude to our Finest! EXCEPT THANK YOU !!!
Dear Steve and Barb
My name is SPC____ with the 126th from Fort Bragg, I requested a 12 string acoustic guitar in September and I got it back in early December. I was expecting a plain jane 12 string, but when I opened the box. I looked inside and I saw the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. You sent me a 1973 C.F. Martin & Co. D12-18 12 String acoustic guitar. I put the strings you sent me on it as well and it has the most beatiful resonant sound I have ever heard from a guitar. One of my NCO's also sent in for a dobro and when she got it, she tried to learn how to playi t, but unfortunately gave up and gave it to me as well. I tried to tell her that I would teach her to play, but she refused. I would like to take this opportunity to express my greatest thanks and appreciation for both of these beautiful guitars. You have no idea how happy you have made me. I still remember opening the box for the 12 string and I actually teared up. I could not believe my eyes. Thank you so very very very much for everything you have done for me and all the other service members out there you havee helped out. I will be sending pictures with my new guitars as I get my hands on a camera. You have blessed me in a very special way and I thank you dearly for that.
Thank you very much
We want to thank the generous American that donated that special guitar to Operation Happy Note so we could in turn send it on to this worthy Soldier !
Barb and Steve
Thank you so much for your heartfelt contribution to the Soldiers of my unit: Brandon's guitar arrived yesterday, and he was all smiles.
With the exuberance of a three-year old, he tore into the box, plugged in the amplifer, and was jamming away without hesitation. You made a young Soldier's day!
As a gifted guitarist, Brandon's ability to "bring us home" for a minute interrupted the pressures of war and the thought of separation with his renditions of popular tunes. For a brief moment, we stopped what we were doing, listened, laughed, and enjoyed the music by Brandon - which was enabled by your vision and assistance.
God Bless you all, Godspeed to your family: May he continue to bless you, and protect those you have touched.
Have a pleasant night!
Warmest Regards,
Pat
We received a request from this Soldier for another Soldier in his unit who had not received anything for Christmas and knew he was a guitarist. We were so glad we could help.
Dear Barb and Steve,
I just got back from R&R and waiting for me in my office was my guitar from Operation Happy Note! What a great Christmas present! God Bless you all for your organization. Providing musical instruments for us deployed soldiers is a huge blessing. I will provide you a photo as soon as I can take one with my guitar. I know you guys are super busy. God Bless all the kind folks who donate musical instruments for you!
Take care and God Bless. I will send a photo soon.
Lenny
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Baker,
Much to my surprise a box from you was sitting at my desk. After making my request for a guitar for one of my troops, I was told that there was a very long waiting list and the chances were slim. Well you certainly come through with flying red, white and blue colors! The guitar is perfect! I gave it to SSgt Robert E yesterday. He was very surprised and grateful. Your generosity could not have come at a better time because about an hour prior to receiving his guitar, he found out that his home had just been burglarized. Many personal items had been taken to include jewelery, spare keys and his wife's purse. Your kindness could not have come at a better time. You two people are wonderful and I pray that God blesses you with good things.
Again, thanks!
I GOT IT !!!!!!!!! I GOT IT !!!!!!!!!
Today I am a trombone player again. I owe it to you guys. Thank you so much for this gift and for once again bringing a smile to a Soldier's face. I wish there were a way to express in words how much I thank you for this.
SGT Cole
Dear Baker Family,
Thank you very much for the guitar, I just received it in the mail and it is beautiful. I am going to take pictures with the guitar and I will send them to you. also how can I thank the VW people for donating the instrument to you, so you could send it to me, I am really thankfull for helping us out. I am going to take care of this gift and learn how to play. Once again, thank you. May the Lord keep on blessing you and your family. God bless you!
I sent a letter to you guys through your website. Here is a picture of me and my new Killer Guitar!
Thanks again
Rich
My son received his guitar last week, and needless to say, It could not have come at a better time. He was so excited to get it, and the rest of the battallion was so envious! I wish they could all get something so heart warming!
This will give him SOMETHING to do besides sit and watch movies all day! THANK YOU so much from a very grateful mom of a Wonderful Hero.
The other day I received the electric guitar I had requested. I never expected to receive one in a combat zone. As of today I've been able to pass what usually seems like long nights. Thank you for your suppoet and everything you do for the soldiers who are away from their families.
Jeremy
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.......
Sgt Thomas....... serving at Camp Bucca Iraq just received his electric guitar last night...he was thrilled....what a wonderful Christmas present for him....timing was perfect....we both thank you so very much...you have sent him a huge package of joy and love..
Pat
I just wanted to let you know the GUITAR ARRIVED!!!! :) Thank you so much, it was worth the wait, it's beautiful and already have it tuned up and (attempting) to make music. It's just perfect timing, the guy who I've been borrowing a guitar from once in awhile left yesterday. I also got the package/book from the Florence Houghton Elementary School which was so neat, it's really awesome to see some of the other great groups that are helping you with your fantastic mission. Thank you again for all you do to help the troops over here.
With great appreciation,
Brian
Thank you very much for the banjo which you have given me. I can't tell you how much I and the other soldiers and Marines in my shop appreciate the time and effort and expense that you and your supporters have given in order to make our time overseas more tolerable.
Thank you
Dear Barb and Steve,
I want to personally thank you for the wonderful service you are providing for the troops who are forward deployed. This is a great opportunity for the troops to continue on their practice in the musical arts and play instruments while they are out here. Thank you for sending out the trumpet out to Iraq. I will practice this while I am out here, to pass the time, and improve on my skills. Thank you again for the service you provide !!
Sincerely
Eric - United States Marine Corps
Barb and Steve
I want to thank you very much for the guitar. Words cannot express the gratitude that I have for you and your organization. Your support truly means a great deal to us over here. Thanks again.
Sincerely

Hello! I received the mandolin that you sent to me the other day. I was so happy to see it. Thank you very much!!! I really like the mandolin, and have been trying to play it. This instrument will really help me this deployment especially with the Holidays coming up. I appreciate all you do for the deployed military, you are making a big difference in the welfare and mental health of our military personnel away from home. Music does wonderful things!!! And you are our Heroes!!!
Respectfully,
Rene
(We love these soldiers ! But I think she has the hero part turned around)
My S101 acoustic guitar arrived today in Afghanistan. It is very nice, it is actually just perfect. You folks are very much talked about in our unit. Several soldiers have guitars that you sent them. I see several better players teaching the new guitar players on your guitars. I plan on relearning thr guitar and some of the guys have offered to help me. Your efforts are truly helping our soldiers.
Thank you again
God Bless you for looking after our soldiers.
Ken
I WAS SENT A MANDOLIN, AND I'M NOT SURE HOW I GOT IT BUT IT CAME FROM YOU. I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT TO OUR TROOPS AND ALSO TO THANK YOU FOR THIS AWESOME GIFT.
THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Barb and Steve
We just got the last of the musical equipment. I really appreciate you sending that for the use of our patients here in the Combat Stress Program. Your work is VERY appreciated.
( (They received one of the cigar box guitars, I'm sure they will have a blast with it.)I just wanted to write and say thank you soooo much. I just received my guitar in the mail today. I was so excited to open it. I have to wait until I get off work to play, the COL had to tell me to stop playing. Thank you so much for all you do. I am from Minnesota and am going to be telling my family and friends all about the great things you do.
Sophia
A friend selected me to receive one of your guitars. What a wonderful gift! A true lift of spirits. Several of my Soldiers have received these guitars. We are very grateful that you are so gracious. I am a native Texan. The guitar with the Texas state flag on it was a true gift from home. Your support to the Soldiers is greatly appreciated. Thanks for remembering us!!
Thank you from the Soldiers of 3rd Infrantry Division
Jon
Although this request is rather long I feel it needs to be put on this website. Just want everyone to know two guitars were shipped to this soldier for his unit in Sept.
I would love the opportunity to receive an acoustic (box) guitarwhile deployed here in Afghanistan.
Let me take this opportunity to say how much exitement and joy you caused to spring to life in my heart by reading your website about your sons request and the guitar you sent him and then the website you initiated for soldiers deployed in support of defending the U.S.A. The idea of receiving such a heartfelt gift with such wonderful kindness is amazing. In this enviroment we forget that there are even weekends and holidays. We forget that there are OFF times, and we sometimes lose focus of life in general back home. So again, thank you for bringing me back to reality and making me smile if even for a sec !
It is truly an honor to serve in this country for folks like yourself. Just a little bit of information about me: I enlisted into the Army in 1991 while a senior in High School. Upon graduation, I entered Basic Training and began my military career. My first assignment was with the U.S. Army Rangers, following an assignment to the special Operations Command in Europe. I enjoyed my assignments as a Non-Commissioned Officer, however I decided after 9 years to increase my level of importance and "better myself". So I became a Warrant Officer and began Flying Helicopters. I am currently a Chief Warrant Officer 3, flying the UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter.
There are thousands of soldiers over here in this area, (Afghanistan and Iraq) but I want you to know that we are here ubtil the mission is complete. There are no ccomplaints, groans or moans from the young kids that lay their life on the line every single day. I have some kids over here that are the young age of 17(just like me in '91 during Desert Storm). Granted they have a look of fear in their eyes, but that doesn't hinder there duty performance. The one or two letters that we receive from amazing people like yourself are what keep us going, and marching forward.
I will close with this short message.
...You can sleep safe tonight, the 82nd Airborne Division is standing guard on the wall for freedom, we will not give up until the mission is accomplished, and your safety is ensured.
Thank you for this great opportunity...
Charles B
A huge thank you on behalf of my fiance', SSG Steven D, and myself. Steve recently received the guitar that was sent to him by Operation Happy Note. I cannot even describe how happy he was. We are definitely indebted to your organization for your generosity and support. So, from one Minnesotan to another ( I was born and raised in Sleepy Eye ).... THANK YOU !!!!!!!!
Thank you all for the beautiful guitars that you recently sent to us ! Both of them arrived in beautiful condition and we have been practicing on them daily. There are seven of us who regularly use the guitars you sent, but the rest of our company has been enjoying the music your gifts have given, In fact we are having a barbecue and talent show on 21SEP 07 where the guitars will be used !
You have no idea how much your gifts have meant to us and the people who play/listen to the guitars. Everyday, someone new comes into my area and sees them hanging there. They have that look in their eye & I ask them-do you want to play? When they do, they look like they're in another world instead of here - my clinic office in Ne aid station of Charlie Medical Company,215th BSB. Your guitars bring a piece of home to the medical personnel and wounded soldiers.
Thank you
Christopher
I came back from work late last night and what was waiting for me, but a shiny black S101 electric guitar! Thank you so much for sending me such a beautiful instrument. As soon as I find an Amp to play it, I'll send you some pictures. Thanks again for all that you do. You guys are great!
Sincerely
Jason
Thank you so much for the guitar that you sent me. I received the information that a guitar was in the mailroom late afternoon of 27Aug07 and out of joy and excitement I decided to skip dinner just so I can avail of the guitar as soon as possible!
Again, I cannot describe the happiness and joy I have for having that. I know that having and playing the guitar will definitely de-stess me.
Thank you very, very much.
Sincerely,
Oscar

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I received a violin from you the day before I went to Kuwait for 3 weeks. I took the violin with me but was unable to send a letter. The violin works great. We now have 3 people that reulary play hymns in church on your donated violins. Your generosity is truly appreciated.
Thank you so much
Carrie
Dear Operation Happy Note,
I wanted to thank-you so much for the guitar. It has already brought much joy, peace and happiness in my heart and soul. It also brings a little of home into my life. I just wanted again to say thank-you for your support and thoughtfulness. It is very much appreciated.
Tamara
Hello,
My name is SPC Tabitha W. I was the receiver of the beautiful Guitar that you all sent to me. You have no idea how much it meant to me to receive this. Thank you so much for taking the time to brighten my day. My NCO SFC Miller put me in for it, because she knew how bad I wanted one. She is very optimistic, and insisted on submitting my name. I think that OHN is a Great organization. You raise money to buy items to bless soldiers who are in Iraq. You have Blessed Me!! I love the guitar sooo much. It is just like the one I have always pictured having. The color is beautiful ! When I plucked the strings I became overwhelmed ! You all have made this the best deployment. Thank you very much for your hospitality, and your generosity, I pray that God Blesses you, like you have blessed me.
Hey there. I got my guitar. Thank very much. We had a horrible last mission. Got shot at, lost an engine, and got struck by lightening. I am officially sick of this place and wanting to go home ASAP.
What’s new with you?
Have a great day
Dave
Hello hello-
This is so exciting wow I never thought I would really own a guitar of my own. I guess I would have to choose the Black one, lets see, string, straps, picks that would all be really helpful.
As soon as I get it I will take some pics and send them right away. Thank you so much again I can promise you that it will go to good use. It will help pass the hours. God Bless! Kayla
DEAR BARB AND STEVE,
WE ARE VERY THANKFUL GOD PUTTING YOU AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME. HERE ARE A FEW PICTURES OF THE IRAQI SOLDIERS PLAYING SOME MUSIC WITH THE INSTRUMENTS YOU SENT. WE WILL PUT THEM TO GOOD USE. I’LL TRY TO GET MORE PICTURES OF AMERICANS PLAYING THEM. MAY GOD BLESS YOU 100 FOLD AND I MEAN SOON
JAMES
Wanted to pass on our appreciation for the Indiana Guitar the Unit rec’d the other day. This guitar will bring so many smiles to the faces of young soldiers and airmen, that at times it would be my wish they kind of forget where they are - not to much forgetting though.
Anyway, thanks for the guitar and more importantly your support of my young men and women.
Regards
JR
Steve
You wouldn’t believe the reaction from a number of soldiers and airmen on hearing of your most generous contribution in support of their efforts here in Iraq. It would be quite unnatural if I (we) were not deeply touched by this gesture of support and evidence of good will. I know the soldiers and airmen will make frequent use of the instruments - for I love music! When they play, I’ll be reminded of the many happy hours I spent in this country with brave soldiers and airmen. For your thoughtfulness, your kindness, for the sentimental as well as the intellectual of your gift ... my sincere thanks.
Regards
Joe
We received your boxes today. The mandolin is being played as we speak by an Army MP from Hawaii. He has his own Ukulele here and is loving trying to play the Mandolin! We are all pretty psyched about this! I think we’ll have a riot here as to who gets to play what, when
Thanks so much!
Deb
Barb
We’d love another mandolin. It has been quite a fascination for us. Those who play guitar are often found sitting befuddled trying to switch and adapt to it! We are having a “luau” (well, Iraa style) in a couple weeks when a lot of our folks rotate out/in. We are planning to use the mandolin as a substitute ukulele. Seems to work well!! All we are really missing here is some sort of keyboard. We really enjoying the guitars also. They wander the halls in the evenings and entertain. We had one of our Army guys make a makeshift strap for it out of a litter strap and tent rope!
Thanks again for remembering us!

Thank you for the new guitar you have no idea how much it means to me. it could not have come at a better time too i was so down that day. i hit rock bottom nothing anbody said mattered to me anymore. i was just walking around in a daze thinking about home and then sombody told me i had a big package. i had almost forgotten about the guitar so i wasnt that excited until i saw the box then i knew right away. that box saved the day for me it was just the pick me up i needed. i dont know how to thank you.i already talked to an iraqi he is going to get me a guitar case for it.

your friend Chris
I just want to thank you sooo much for the guitar. I have played it numerous times, and you just dont understand how much stress one can relieve from simply playing a guitar. Thank you soo much. It meant so much, and I share it with guys in my platoon, so they thank you too.
Ryan
